So I've been to Lightwater Valley today (anyone been?)
What a dissapointing load of crap Theres only one decent ride, a classic wooden style coaster called 'The Ultimate' longest coaster in Europe @ 1.5miles apparently. Rest of it? Rubbish. Cool if you've got kids though, loads of kiddies rides. But not enough BIG rides. So my point... Why are UK theme parks Crap? I dont know what they're like down south but our northern ones? well... The most recent ones i've been to are, Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land and Blackpool Pleasure beach. They're all rubbish. Flamingo land is halfway decent i suppose, but the place is a dive. Pleasure Beach more of a funfair really, but too damn expensive. I went to Florida with my family when I was younger and did the themepark thing. God!! Those places put ours to shame Why don't we have more US style parks? I know Alton Towers is more along those lines, but I havent been since the 80's, so I couldnt really comment further on Alton Towers. Just something thats been on my mind on the way home. Discuss. -------------------- |

Alton Towers is pretty good, if a little expensive. As for competing with the Americans blighty just doesn't have the financial girth to make such a park as those seen in Florida, nor the space.

Are there any with (get ready) TEA-cup rides?
Cuz, you know, all British people drink tea all the time. |

Well dont shoot him yet, we do drink tea. Well I had about three cups today but made for me.
Any who, whats wrong with blackpool pleasure beach? If you get an all day wristband with Tesco clubcard points it only costs about a fiver making it a decent day out. And we do have teacup rides. And they're very good. -------------------- |

Alton Towers is good. But access to the site is so bad! I was looking at getting there by public transport and it's impossible!
I was at another theme park (Movie Park) while in Germany, and it wasn't as good as Alton Towers. The one thing it was better at was friendly staff. All the people in Alton Towers seem to be so moody and never want to help you. Camelot is also OK. They should have plenty of money as it's a Lottery - funded theme park. -------------------- |
