Just got back from my staycation. We had a couple of days down at Alton Towers :D
Just wondered if any of you lot had been recently, and what you thought about it?

For those who don't know, it is probably the UKs biggest and best theme park.

We ordered a two day pass online, and checked into a premier inn just outside Derby.
About a 10 minute walk from Pride Park, which is a pretty cool stadium btw.
God knows why we chose Derby? I mean it was a good 30-40 minute run to get to the Park.

But anyway, shit was awesome!! All the rides are quality. The lines were pretty good.
The weather stayed nice, which was a HUGE plus!! Even the hotel was nice, Lenny Henry speaks the truth.

Anyone been recently then? ;) What did you think?

I thought water parks was? As long as it doesn't catch fire? ;)
Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion.

It's been several years since I last went (think Reta Queen of Speed was less then two years old) but it was pretty good (except Reta, that was a bit pants).

But yeah why didn't you stay at the Alton Tower Hotel(s)? Would have made for more sense.

I went with my fams, and there was 15 of us. We priced up a stay at the hotels on site, and it was waaaay too expensive. We even priced up the Premier Inn/Travel Lodge/Holiday Inn in the immediate surrounding area, still too expensive. So we settled on the Derby Premier Inn, because my uncle had stayed there previously when his family did Alton Towers. It worked out pretty well, and it's a really nice part of the country. :)

It's been at least 5 years for me as well. There's talks of everyone going when we get back to uni... THAT would be fun! :)

I guess everyone's back to school now, so it won't be too busy.
Are the age old rides still there? Oblivion, Nemesis, Air, Corkscrew? There are probably loads more now that I've never even heard of

They're all there Patrick, though corkscrew got renamed. God knows why!

If you're wanting to go during term time then you'd better hurry up, they'll be closing for winter soon.
